They felt no need to compete assured that merchants and classified custiomers would use them regardless of their content.Now they are like government bureaucrats, they don't know how to compete- how to make their papers more enjoyable and reading it a pleasurable experience.<BR/><BR/>I spent weeks sending alternate headlines day after day to my papers editors to no avail; but have modest success since I send them to the publisher. Mine had puns, alliteration and rhyme to draw the reader to the story. They do seem to be doing better. You have to make them; shame them into improving. I take the Thursday and Sunday paper (Indy Star) just to support newspapers. I do read my newspapers, but most of the headlines are from the indystar website. I smile because I've "scanned" the headline online before I even picked up the newspaper from my driveway.<BR/>Newspapers need to take a "page" from comics and graphic novels. Comics and graphic novels "shine" in ways movies and TV can not.
